Our aerial cinematography service covers the full production pipeline from initial creative briefing through final colour-graded delivery. We start with a pre-production consultation to understand your creative vision, target platforms, and technical requirements. Our flight team then builds a detailed shot list and flight plan that accounts for airspace restrictions, weather windows, lighting conditions, and safety zones around people and structures.

We operate the DJI Air 2S with a 1-inch CMOS sensor capable of shooting 5.4K video at 30fps and 4K at 60fps. The 10-bit D-Log M colour profile provides a flat, graded image that gives your colourist flexibility in post-production. For lighter, more agile operations in restricted areas, we also deploy the DJI Mavic Mini as a sub-249g platform.

Flight operations for cinematography differ significantly from standard drone surveying. Cinematographic flights require smooth camera movements — slow reveals, tracking shots, orbital paths, and dramatic pullbacks. Our pilots plan these shots carefully using GPS-assisted flight paths and manual gimbal control to achieve consistent, professional results.

Regulatory compliance is built into every shoot. All Sky Scouts pilots hold Transport Canada Advanced RPAS Pilot Certificates and coordinate airspace clearances through NAV CANADA for controlled zones. For shoots near airports, over crowds, or in restricted airspace, we handle Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) applications well in advance. We carry commercial aviation liability insurance and conduct site-specific risk assessments before every flight.

Post-production support includes colour grading for D-Log M footage, social media cutdowns in vertical and square formats, and still frame extraction from video. Typical turnaround for a standard shoot is 5 to 7 business days, with rush delivery available for time-sensitive campaigns.
